Tour of the Kazan Kremlin

"View of the Kremlin from the Volga River"

Discover the only Tatar fortress in Russia, the Kazan Kremlin

Standing high on the banks of the Volga River, the Kazan Kremlin is a unique historical symbol of Tatarstan history. The Kremlin offers magnitudes of contrast, housing a number of orthodox cathedrals and mosques, a significant symbol of both religion and history in Kazan.

Your tour begins with your guide recounting the history of Kazan’s glorious fortress, during which time, you will get a glimpse into the conflict and struggle for unity between the two faiths, Christianity and Islam. Your guide will then lead you inside the kremlin, where you will see the Kul Sharif Mosque and the Orthodox Annunciation Cathedral, as they stand together to signify the unity between both religions.

During your tour, you will have the opportunity to see the leaning Syuyumbike Tower, the Governor’s Palace and the burial sites of the Kazan Khans. Before your tour concludes, you have the opportunity to delve deeper in history with a tour of the Khazine National Art Gallery, the museum of Natural History of the Republic of Tatarstan, or the Hermitage Kazan Centre.
