Your excursion begins from the moment your guide escorts you to the village of Tarbagatai, located 52km from Ulan-Ude. Before you embark on an unforgettable journey through the breathtaking Siberian steppe, your guide will reveal the rich history of the Old Believers, unfolding the hardship once endured by Russia’s largest indigenous group.
Upon arrival in the Village of the Old Believers, you will be welcomed with a traditional greeting performed by the villagers, who will be dressed in traditional embroidered satin clothing. For a moment you will become part of their culture and partake in song and dance, then your guide will lead you inside the church of the Old-Believers, where you are able to delve into the villager’s way of life, and discover more about their religious formation.
Continue on route to explore the village, your first views will be the painted wooden shutters of the traditional wooden homes. While exploring you are able to feel as though you are walking through centuries, the ancient wooden houses and the old ornate of the village landmarks, will give you and insight into life as it was lived by the villager’s ancestors.
Before your tour concludes, you can experience life in the village by visiting the ancient wooden houses, following that with a visit to the local museum, where you will unearth the collect of century old artefacts and antiques. After spending time with the villagers and saying your goodbyes, it will be time for you to make the journey back to the city, where your excursion ends with a drop-off at your accommodation.
