Marvel at the glorious treasures hidden inside the Kungur Cave
The Kungur ice cave is a treasure chest containing approximately 50 grottos, and it expands to total length of 5,700m, of which 2,000m is open for explorers to discover. The cave’s breath-taking beauty and its marvellous history is appropriately echoed in the names of each grotto, which you will come to discover when you proceed to discover its hidden caverns. The cave is exquisitely unique, and its chambers are enclosed with stalagmite columns and stalactite icicles reaching over two metres, with dense layers of ice crystals resembling precious stones covering its walls.
Admire the astounding Ural scenery while you embark on the journey through the Siberian Trakt, passing Kungur’s historical centre. Sitting on the banks of the Sylva River, within the region of perm’s oldest town, lies the Kungur ice cave. Upon arrival your guide will lead you inside the Diamond grotto nearing the entrance, inside will be dim but beyond comprehendible beauty, and your first view will the shimmering ice stalactites which brings to mind a cascade frozen in mid-air, ice that has been formed over many centuries.
Adjacent to the diamond grotto is the breath-taking ice chamber of the Polar grotto, where you have the opportunity to see stalagmites spewing from the floor upwards, and stalactites hanging from its icy walls. For contrast, venture into the Pompeii Ruins to observe its many embellished ice formations resembling various strange silhouettes.
Shortly after you’ve had the chance to explore more of the many chambers within the cave, your tour guide will excite you with insight into the history and the unexplained legends of the Kungur Cave. After two astounding hours spent marvelling at the magnificent treasures concealed within each grotto, you have lunch and then embark on the journey back to the city.
