3-day winter tour to Olkhon Island

"Olkhon island in the heart of lake Baikal"

Explore Olkhon Island, the largest and most beautiful island in lake Baikal

You will be met by your English-speaking guide in Irkutsk and accompanied to Khuzhir village, the main village on Olkhon Island with population of 1200 people.

After 4-5 hour car drive to the island, including around 30 minutes on ice, you will arrive to Olkhon, check-in to your hotel and have free time before you can enjoy the sunset on the Shaman Cape nearby.

The next day you will have a day-long tour by private car with lunch to the northern part of the island, where you will see the main landmarks of Olkhon, the archaeological monuments and natural sights, as well as find out the historical legends and ancient myths that this place holds. Olkhon Island, according to Buryatian folk tales, a wild and mystical place, is currently an active centre of shamanism.

Olkhon offers an opportunity to admire the various Baikal landscapes: open steppe, light pine forests with relict pines, taiga forest and spectacular mountains. You’ll be taken to the best view points of Olkhon, where the guide will introduce you to all mysterious shamanic legends and let you discover amazing sceneries around. Take a unique opportunity to ice skate on Lake Baikal during the tour if desired.

Next day by the aftrenoon you will return to Irkutsk.
