Military Highlights of Vladivostok
Discover the Vladivostok Fortress Museum, Fort #7 and Voroshilovskaya Battery
This tour acts as an introduction into the military history of Vladivostock as you travel back to a time when the Fortress protected the city with its huge guns and weaponry.
You’ll visit two old batteries built in the 19th century which are now preserved and incredibly interesting museums.
Fort#7, the official name is “The Fort of the Tsarevich Alexei Nikolaevich,” was built in 1910 into the side of Mount Toropov, 14 km north of the center of Vladivostok. It’s the western-most fort on the northern defense line. The main attraction of the fort are the underground tunnels, which have a total length of 1.5 km and connect the fort’s entire defense system, intersecting and then taking off in different directions. It was designed so that riflemen and artillerymen could move quietly from one end of the fort to another, and appear in places the enemy would not expect.
You’ll also get to visit a real life military base where the Voroshilovskaya Battery sits and you cannot help but admire the complex architecture from over 80 years ago in this impressive military building.
The modern Pacific Navy warships are also stationed here, giving you the general atmosphere of glory, honour and battle as you experience all this incredible parts of Russia’s military, both past and present.
