Metro (on foot)
Uncover the depths of Moscow's underground
Live like a true Russian by experiencing the Moscow Metro which spans nearly the whole of the capital with over 185 miles of track, 12 lines and 180 stations carrying over 7 million passengers daily.
It is the second most heavily used metro in the world after Tokyo’s twin subway. Moscow’s Metro opened in 1935 and is famous for its ornate station designs with some exquisite socialist realist art.
You can tell your direction of travel by the gender of the announcer: male means you’re going clockwise, whilst a female voice tells you you’re going anti-clockwise. Each line has a number, name and colour and are known to the Russians colloquially by their colours.
Involve yourself with this unique experience and become a Russian traveller for the day with this amazing 2 hour tour of the huge Russian underground.
