The XXll Olympic Winter Games will take place in Sochi, Russia between the 7th and 23rd February 2014, with the Xl Paralympic Winter games taking place between the 7th and 16th March.

Do I need a visa to visit the Sochi Winter Olympics?

Unless you are an athlete participating in or an official connected with the Olympic Games then you will need a visa to visit the Sochi Winter Olympics.

What type of visa do I need?

To visit the Sochi Winter Olympic Games as a spectator you will need a tourist visa, and, as a leading provider of Russian visas for people resident in the UK, the Real Russia team in London will be working closely with the Russian consulate to ensure a quick and accurate service for anyone visiting the Sochi Games.

The Russian consulate has announced two options for spectators to the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games which include:

Option One – standard processing

Visitors may apply for a regular tourist visa following our standard online procedure paying for the relevant processing time as outlined on the Russian tourist visa page

Option Two – express processing

Real Russia can process applications using a special “one working day” service only for tourist visas for visitors to the Sochi Olympics. This service allows us to lodge your application and collect your passport and visa in one working day instead of the usual two under the condition that:

a) Your invitation letter (visa support document) shows "зритель Сочи 2014" (Sochi 2014 spectator) as a purpose of their visit;

Please note if you need an invitation letter from Real Russia for this purpose we can provide this, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

b) You provide a copy of your spectator pass, event tickets or receipt for event ticket purchase with your application to Real Russia to prove to the consulate you are visiting the Sochi Olympics.

c) When completing the online application:

a. Select the next day processing

b. Select “Sochi spectator” as the purpose of visit.

When will my visa be ready?

The processing times for standard tourist visas are available on the tourist visa page and when you fill in the online form.

The processing times for the special one working day service are one day less than the standard express service for tourist visas.

Please note, that we cannot process your visa until we have received all of the required documents in our London office and prepared your application.

Train Tickets for visiting Sochi Winter Olympics
