You have come to the right conclusions.
You have also come to the right place for support if you need it and I do think that you might.
I do not want to be the wet blanket, but I do think that you will still find a few more obstacles.
I will just ad that in my opinion the end it is well worth it.
Good luck to you, the mother to be and the baby.

My advice is, do not go to your local MP, they are rubbish, myself and my sister have gone to ours on a different situation, ie the NHS, and as always its too little, too late! At the end of the day, they don't really have enough clout to do much really for (the locals), all they do is sit in the house of morons, sorry, commons, drink gin and fall asleep in the pews! They care about what a wonderful education they had and how rich they are! They should all be rounded up in a net and sent to Siberia with a tent and a sleeping bag (ok, a bit of dried fish) and see how the globe works.... was that a rant? sorry... but more to come though!!! he he he

Ps. I have never been to Siberia with a tent and a sleeping bag, but have been bloody cold these last few days, so as usual feel bad for the MPs of course. I think we should sew quilts for the poor educated and gifted lads and lasses, and their sons and daughters..... just a thought, they should be warm eh :-)

NO thanks Nina, send them elsewhere please, there are enough MP's in Siberia, already fiddling anything they can get, making false claims, telling lies, etc, etc, thankyou very much..........

All that means is *your* MP is crap (or your timing is).
There are plenty of hard working MPs.

Thanks. Naively we didn't inform anyone she stayed longer than the initial request for a 3-4 month visit. Too late now, but for reference, who should we have informed?

No-one, if she applies for a future visit visa they will be interested in the reasons for the unexpectedly long stay, but as long as she left before the visa expired that is all the law requires.

Anyway, you will I presume be applying for a settlement visa (in due course), so the ECO will not be considering any factors that affect returning after a visit. As Tony says, it should be fairly straightforward (in fact the extra time spent with you in the Uk on that visit will count in your favour).

But no one should read into this that it is ok to apply for a visa for a couple of weeks or a month visit and then stay longer just because the visa is valid for 6 months. It is simply not ok. IMHO

as mark says the ECO may well be interested as to why... settlement is not a foregone conclusion and life can be made very difficult if you take the pee out of the system... there will be no stress on the ECO when they look at the facts 'subjectively'

and long term the more the pee is taken the more likely they will change the system and move away from 6 month multiple entry visas, not good for friends, relatives and those that follow.

Obviously it shouldn't be relied on, but the way it is dealt with depends on the reasons given if it comes up, and what the next visa applied for is. For a follow on settlement application it has NO EFFECT AT ALL, other than possibly a positive one.

I don't think that has any effect on the decision processes in the Home Office whatsoever, it's overstayers they are bothered about (and they've already decided to reduce the limit anyway).

We'll agree to disagree because the history of the past six to seven years (2003 feb onwards) of immigration policy and the changing of rules indicates a different prognosis to me.

In addition if your likely to be then sponsoring visa applications further down the line you have to keep one eye on how this 'might' be complicated by what is in effect lies in the past..... My point is why take the pee when it's multiple entry ... Come and go on the time that you stated in your application and then come back.... then there is NO come back

Hi all, it’s been a while since I posted and I thought I would take the opportunity to give everyone an update.

It gives us great pleasure to share our good news with you all. Natasha gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on the 2nd June we have decided to call Victoria. I have just returned from Tashkent. She is so, so cute. I know everyone says that about their own babies, but I make no apology in describing here as the most beautiful cute little baby I have ever seen. We are now in the process of applying for Natasha’s fiancé visa. I have my decree Absolute, so all documentation regarding the application is in place. Also, my name is on the Uzbek birth certificate as the father and I registered the birth at the British Embassy in Tashkent, so we will have a British birth certificate as well (although this is not essential, I thought it for the best for just $166). The Embassy were great. I met the ECO (vice consul) who witnessed the paternity declaration we had to swear because we are not married. Nice lady. And get this, Natasha and I also got a formal invitation to a party held by the British Ambassador Rupert Joy at the Ambassador’s residence in commemoration of the Queen’s birthday! Unfortunately we couldn’t go because I didn’t have a tux with me and Natasha was still recovering from the birth, but nevertheless, I thought it was a positive thing they invited us purely on the basis I am British and was in Tashkent at the time.

We were advised by the embassy NOT to apply for a British passport for Victoria while she is still in Tashkent, rather have her included on Natasha’s Uzbek passport. The reason for this is if she has a British passport, she would be subject to Uzbek immigration controls as a foreigner and the British Embassy cannot issue her with an Uzbek visa which she would need in her passport, otherwise we would find it difficult to get her out of the country. If she is included on Natasha’s Uzbek passport, the British Consul could issue her with a UK visa which would make things a whole lot easier. In the future, once in the UK, we would be free to apply for a British passport for her.

The earliest Victoria can fly is 6 weeks old, although it’s preferable to wait a little longer, so hopefully we will be awarded with the relevant visas to start sometime towards the end of July, just before Natasha’s birthday on the 31st. I know I’m probably counting my chickens here, but we have to be positive to think we will be successful in our application. The contingency plan would be to get married in Uzbekistan and return as a “family”. I have a property in Mallorca and we would go there if necessary. Crazily, as I’m sure you’re all aware, as a British citizen I have more rights in a different EU country than my own when it comes to visas for spouse and daughter (EEA Family Permit aka Surrinder Singh rule). Hopefully, we will not need to take this route.

Anyway, I digress. A little bit more about the birth for anyone who’s interested. The healthcare in Uzbekistan is limited to say the least. This was my biggest worry regarding Natasha giving birth in Tashkent. We paid for “extra” care and it was still in my view primitive. I dread to think what would have happened if there were any complications. But all’s well that ends well, and to be fair, both mother and daughter are receiving good aftercare attention with regard to vaccinations and check-ups (although we have to pay for them it’s a small price to pay and it’s hardly breaking the bank).

It was such a wrench to leave them both in Tashkent and return to the UK alone. Natasha had moved back in with her parents since returning to Tashkent at the start of the year, so she is not alone. She has her mother’s support and her mother is fantastic with the baby. She knows what she’s doing and does it well. I know both Natasha and Victoria are in safe hands. I’ve met her parents before and they welcomed me back with open arms. They are such a kind lovely couple, I couldn’t have wished for a better reception and they made me really feel at home during my stay.

Touch wood things continue to run “smoothly”, but of course I won’t relax until they are both with me in the UK. Again, I’ll keep everyone posted with our experiences.

Thanks again to all those who gave advise and replied to the original posting.

Yours, David, Natasha and Victoria x
