| I went to Moscow in July last year on a 30 day Tourist Visa. I'd like to go and visit my friend in May and was wondering if any restrictions apply? Do I have to wait so long before I can be issued another Visa?
Cheers! |

Location: South Oxfordshire, UK & St. Petersburg, Russia | There is an rumour that any more than 3 tourist visas in any one year can arouse suspicion from the Russian authorities and you could risk a refusal but you've only had one in the previous 12 months so there are no concerns in applying for another one. I've previously been getting 3 tourist visas a year since 2006 (my passport is overflowing with them) and I've never had any issues.

| Excellent news, just what I needed - this has been a terrible week so far.
Cheers pal! |

| I applied for four visas last year (and were all accepted), but I've just put in for my first this year and they have asked why I am visiting yet again. Well, it's to see my fiancée, but in the letter to the embassy I put because I like Russia a lot and similar stuff (which is also true). Now I'm just waiting for the outcome... |

| I'm sure you'll be OK but the standard advise is if you're planning to visit frequently go for business visa. They cost less and you don't have to worry about having what's considered to many tourist visas. |

| Thanks, Michael. I never imagined visiting so often really, but I'll keep that in mind if I visit again. |

Location: Kent | In the past, I've applied for 6 visa's in one year and had them all ok'd without a problem. This was 4-5 years ago though. Honesty is always the best policy with the application forms. |

One thing you forget to mention is that a business visa has to be applied for on company headed letter paper and you are supposed to state a business reason for a business visa application so unless you have a real company who you can use to apply for a visa through and a real business reason to visit, you are again in the realms of being untruthful (i.e. if you were to knock up some headed letter paper with a ficticious name and/or make up a business reason for visiting Russia). Most people don't own their own company unfortunately and there aren't many employers who would be prepared to write a visa application letter for an employee with a made up business reason for visiting Russia.
I certainly wouldn't advise it unless you have real business to attend to in Russia in case the Russian authorities find out otherwise and refuse any further visas (of any type) as a result.

| Well if we're starting to go down that road then every time you apply for a tourist visa without actually having a real hotel booking it is in fact being untruthful yet no one has a problem with this and in fact it's actively encouraged by just about everyone. |

| Thanks for the info, GaryM. After this visit, I probably won't be returning until 2013 (so hopefully it's a long enough "break" between visits). |
