China is the largest country in Asia with a population of around 1.4 billion people. One of the easiest ways of getting around this vast country is via the many railways that connect some of its major cities spanning from the mountainous areas of Cheng Du in the South-west, to the major port city of Shanghai on China’s East Coast.
Travelling by train offers unparalleled views of the China’s ever-changing landscapes and gives you the opportunity to experience local life outside the Capital.
To find the trains you need, click the ‘advanced search’ option in the booking window and type in your chosen station.
Please note: Requesting train tickets using the search engine above is not a commitment to purchase. We will only take payment for train tickets once you have instructed us to do so.
Chinese railways don’t allow you to book tickets more than a few weeks before the departure date, however we can take your details at any time so we can book your train tickets as soon as they go on sale.
Chinese Railways typically issue tickets around 10 – 12 (sometimes up to 30) days in advance of travel; this can fluctuate depending on demand and public holidays.
Please note: this booking window is only a guideline, and may have exceptions.
We are able to start the booking process as soon as the tickets go on sale which gives us an advantage over other agencies who may wait until the tickets are on sale before taking your details. It is very important that we can order your train tickets as soon as possible as there is huge demand for them; particularly for First Class tickets or any tickets bought during the summer months.
All services must be fully paid before your train tickets are confirmed and are subject to our standard Terms and Conditions.
Group discounts are available on many international trains to China. Groups of more than six people qualify for 15% off the standard ticket price.
For domestic trains, a child price is available depending on height. Children under 1.2m can travel for free, with no ticket required but no seat allocation. Children under 1.5m, can still obtain a child priced ticket to ensure seat/berth allocation. For international trains, children between 4-12 years will qualify for a child’s fare.
A child’s ticket is 50% of the full adult fare for seats and around 30% of the full adult fare for berths.
Please note: Only one child can travel per full fare paying adult.
