Due to an agreement between the US and Russia on September 9th 2012, visa applications for US citizens have been simplified. Under the new rules, US passport holders no longer need provide proof of residency when applying for visas.
Russian Railways (RZD) have suspended the sale of tickets for long distance trains with departure dates on and after 26 October 2012.
