Most tourists on the Trans-Siberian Railway travel across Russia before continuing to Mongolia and further into China. However, the possibility to take a detour to Kazakhstan is often overlooked.
The final day of the Kazakh adventure was a trip to the most beautiful location of the tour, Charyn Canyon.
Day seven took in a tour of Aktau, its primary museum and the Caspian Sea.
Day six took us more than 450km around Mangystau, from depression low, to mountain high.
