Moscow is a whole new city in the summer, from the beginning of June onwards the temperatures rise into the low thirties. Many locals will tend to take this chance to get out of the city either vacationing or spending weekends at their dacha, which is a second or seasonal home.
A lot of theatres tend to close for the season or will go on tour although there are shows prepared for the tourist season.
The summer months are a great chance to visit the Golden Ring and other attractions surrounding Moscow. If you do go exploring in the countryside, make sure to bring insect repellent!
