“Epiphany Cathedral, Irkutsk”
Taking its name from the river, Irkutsk is a city in the landscape of rolling hills with beautiful surroundings and history.
You’ll start the tour immersing yourself in the city’s history in the museum of Irkutsk as well as the religious culture within in the Omen Monastery, the only one left in the city.
There lies the revered graveyard where ancient Decembrists are buried. The spiritual nature of the city is then continued with a visit to the most exquisite church of Irkutsk, the Kazan Cathedral.
This car tour then drives you along the main street of Irkutsk, the Karl Marx Street to reach the Angara River Embankment.
Here is the monument to Alexander III where all the young people gather, giving you a taste of the ‘youth culture’ of this beautiful, historic city.
