The capital of Buryatia Republic, Ulan-Ude is a city of culture and diversity, denoted in its many intriguing Buddhist temples and cathedrals. It is a place where the traditions of the ancient Shaman and nomadic traditions still lives on, and it is one of the most culturally astounding cities to explore in eastern Siberia.
Your excursion begins from the moment your tour guide escorts you to the historical heart of Ulan-Ude, where many of the city’s treasured landmarks are located.
Explore the historical centre of the city, including Soviet Square, Arbat Street and admire Odigitrievsky monastery as your excursion proceeds. When on Soviet Square, your first view will be the considerable monument of Lenin’s head, one of the city’s most prominent symbols overlooking Siberia to the east.
Before concluding your tour, you can delve deeper into the city’s history as your guide will continue on route to see some of the many cathedrals and temples, to experience the religious and spiritual formation of Ulan-Ude, all while learning about life in the Republic of Buryatia, culture and religion in equal measure.
