You’ll drive down to visit the downtown area of the city including the renowned Nevsky Prospekt, Monastery of Alexander Nevsky, Kazanskiy Cathedral, Palace Square, the Hermitage, Admiralty and also St. Basil Point from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of St. Petersburg below with its famous architecture and landmarks.
Your guide will also point out the Peter and Paul Fortress, one of the oldest, most historic sights and also the Field of Mars. However, the main attraction of this tour is the visit to the Church of the Saviour on the spilt blood which commemorates the tragic event of 1 March 1881 when a terrorist bombed the area and killed the Tsar, Alexander II.
The Cathedral was built in honour of the Tsar on the place of assassination by architect Parland. It imitates Russian architecture from the nineteenth century making it one of the most exquisite, historic and cultural areas of the city.
