City Tour: Novodevichy Convent & St. Basils (by car)

“Novodevichy Convent”

Uncover the maiden convent and Moscow’s famous cathedral

This city tour is the full package with visits to all the historic and religious sites.

The tour starts in the heart of the city at the Red Square where you’ll see the Lenin Mausoleum and the State Historical Museum before making your way along the Moskva River embankment. Whilst strolling along this peaceful path, you’ll enjoy views of the Kremlin, Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and Moscow State University before reaching Sparrow Hills for an incredible panoramic view of the city.

The tour doesn’t finish there as you continue on to the Memorial Complex at Poklonnaya Hill and Victor Park, Triumphal Arch, Kutuzov Avenue, New Arbat, Boulevard Ring, Pushkin Square and Tverskaya Street before ending the tour in Manezhnaya Square.

This tour goes on to visit the Novodevichy Monastery (New Maiden Convent) founded by the Great Tsar Vasily III. You can see the amazing white walls, golden domes and 12 battle towers of this fortress as one of the country’s most stunning monasteries.

Next, see St. Basil’s Cathedral which is also now a museum. In the seventies, they discovered a wooden spiral staircase in the walls which is the route you would take into the central church with its extraordinary, soaring tented roof from the 16th Century as well as walking along the winding gallery which is immersed in exquisite patterned paintwork.

This tour gives you more of a chance to see some of the most beautiful architecture from the inside as well as seeing all the incredible buildings of the surrounding city in just a few hours.
