Yekaterinburg is sometimes called ‘the third capital of Russia’, making it no surprise that the city is steeped in history and culture. This tour is representative of a huge part of Russian history in Yekaterinburg.

The fates of Yekaterinburg and Romanov’s Dynasty are tightly interwoven and this tour just gives you a slight insight into the family of the Emperor. Three assassinations of the members of the Emperor’s family are known to have taken place in the Urals.

First, Michael, younger brother of Nicholas II was killed in Perm and his burial place is still unknown. Next, the Great Princes Romanovs were assassinated in Alapeyevsk. The Emperor’s close family were victims of revenge in Yekaterinburg itself. All these assassinations happened within one year, making the history of the family a very unique and tragic one.

You get to follow the steps of the last of Romanov’s Dynasty and see authentic photos of the Emperor’s family to see up close what they were like and feel even more intimate with the famous, glorious family, as well as visit the Cathedral on the Blood, built on the site where the last Tsar of Russia and his family were killed, and the monastery of Holy Majestic Martyrs at Ganya’s Pit, the place where Romanovs’ bodies were supposedly burnt.

Most impressively, you’ll get to visit the monument in the nearby village of Koptyakie which is famous as one of the places of assassination.
