Itinerary

Riga

Situated at the mouth of the River Daugava in the Baltic Sea, Riga is the capital and largest city in Latvia. The city is cultural centre of Latvia and is known for its museums and concert halls as well as its magnificent art nouveau style architecture which adorns the Old Town; a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Riga was founded in in the early 13th century and was appointed the European Capital of Culture in 2014.

Arrival in Riga

On arrival in Riga your driver will meet you at your scheduled arrival point (airport or railway station) before taking you to the Radisson Blu Latvia Hotel for check-in.

You will kick off your time in Riga with a morning walking tour of the Old Town.

Today you will have a free time in the morning to explore the magical city of Riga for yourself. Take in the local culture by visiting some of the city’s museums and galleries or simply stroll around the city and do some last-minute Christmas shopping, the decision is yours.

Day 4

Departure from Riga

After checking out of your hotel, your driver will meet you at your hotel and take you to the train station for the overnight train to St Petersburg

The pinnacle of art and culture in Russia, St Petersburg, is one of the country’s most visited destinations and former capital city. Nicknamed the ‘Venice of the North’ due to its elaborate system of canals, the city lies on the Neva River. It is popular with tourists and includes several of Russia’s most famous attractions including the Hermitage Museum, Catherine Palace and the Peterhof.

Arrival in St Petersburg

After arriving in St Petersburg, your driver will take you to your hotel where you will check-in and have the rest of the day as free time to rest and relax.

Day 6

Tour of St Petersburg

After breakfast, you will begin your day by meeting your guide and driver in the hotel lobby where you will embark on a city tour by car, taking in the most spectacular sights found in Russia’s second city. You can expect to see the Peter & Paul Fortress, University Embankment, Palace Bridge, Senate Square, St. Issac’s Cathedral, Nevsky Prospect, the Church on the Spilled Blood and more (from outside).

Day 7

Guided tour of the Catherine Palace and Amber Room

Today, you will enjoy a spectacular guided tour of one of St Petersburg’s most well-known attractions, the Catherine Palace along with its famous Amber Room.

Day 8

Tour of the world-famous Hermitage Museum

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast followed by a full morning tour of the State Hermitage including the Winter Palace, Small Hermitage, Old Hermitage, New Hermitage, and General Staff Building. With your guide, you will see the state interiors of the Winter Palace, the most glorious Tsar residence in Russia, started by Empress Elizabeth I and finished under Catherine the Great’s rule.

Departure from St Petersburg
