Moscow
Russia’s official capital, Moscow, is the political and religious heart of the country. The city has the highest density of billionaires, is the world’s most populated inland city and boasts six out of Europe’s ten tallest buildings. It continues to be a major tourist destination in Europe growing year on year with famous attractions including Red Square, St Basil’s Cathedral, and the Kremlin.

Arrival in Moscow, with a transfer to the centrally located 3* Maxima Panorama Hotel.

Today your adventure begins – you have a free day to explore, discover and experience everything the Russian capital has to offer.

Day 4
Depart Moscow
The majority of the day is free, allowing you to relax and explore Moscow, or take an optional tour, before packing, and preparing, to check out of the hotel for 12 noon.
You will be provided with a transfer to the railway station later in the afternoon, where our guide will advise, and assist, in purchasing provisions for the train if desired, accompany you to the platform, ensure that everyone is settled into their cabins and answer any last minute questions.

Yekaterinburg
Yekaterinburg stands close to the divide between Russia and Kazakhstan and is known as the ‘window on Asia’ due to its close proximity to the border. The city is commonly referred to as Russia’s ‘third capital’ as it is ranked third for tourism, transport, and economic size. It holds crucial significance in Russian History as the final resting place of the Romanov dynasty.

Arrival in Yekaterinburg
You will arrive into Yekaterinburg later in the evening, and will be provided with a transfer to take you to the 3* Ural Hotel.

You will have the opportunity to investigate, explore, and experience the historic city of Yekaterinburg in your own time, or book one of our many optional excursions.

Depart Yekaterinburg
Today, you have the morning to yourself before meeting your driver for the late morning transfer to the rail station. Your train will leave the eastern foothills of the Ural Mountains, ultimately heading to Irkutsk, home to one of the world’s greatest natural treasures, the awesome Lake Baikal! But first, weave your way through the Siberian plane via Novosibirsk.

Trans-Mongolian
A variant of the traditional Trans-Siberian Railway, the Trans-Mongolian is one of the best ways to reach and explore Mongolia and passes between Moscow and Beijing visiting the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar on the way. The train journey itself offers diverse, spectacular views from the alpine forest regions of Siberia to the vast, arid Gobi Desert before skipping through the lush landscapes of China.

Heading into Asia
Enjoy your day on the train, travelling along the seemingly limitless tracks, and through the incredible forests of Siberia, you will pass the mighty Altai region, crossing the River Yenisei at Krasnoyarsk, before heading deep into Asia.

Irkutsk
Irkutsk is one of the largest cities in Siberia and the most important hub for tourism in the Lake Baikal region. As opposed to many of the more industrially shaped cities in Siberia, Irkutsk has a long history as a cultural centre and has been home to scientists, writers, artists, and political activists such as the Decembrists. It is also a key destination on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Following your late evening arrival in Irkutsk, you will be taken to your accommodation at the 3* Angara Hotel.

Depart Irkutsk
Following a very early morning transfer to the railway station, you will catch the train to Ulaanbaatar. Once through Ulan-Ude, the home of Russian Buddhism and capital of the local Buryat Republic, the train will head towards the Mongolian border.

Ulaanbaatar
The capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, was founded in the 17th century as a Buddhist monastic centre and is the country’s largest city. It is situated in the Tuul River valley, bordering the Bogd Khan Uul National Park and close to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. The city has a rich heritage and is home to many famous tourist attractions including the Gandantegchinlen Monastery, Zaisan Memorial, Choijin Lama Temple, and the Winter Palace of Bogd Khaan.

Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
After your morning arrival at the station, you will be provided with a transfer which will take you to the 3* Great Empire Hotel. You will have some free time in the morning to get your bearings, before checking into your hotel later in the day.

Depart Ulaanbaatar and Cross the Gobi Desert
Catch your early morning transfer for your train to Beijing before travelling on through the majestic Gobi Desert and towards the Chinese border. Later in the evening, the train will reach the Chinese border where the impressive procedure of bogie-changing takes place, before heading off for Beijing.

Beijing
The capital of China, Beijing, has a long history stretching back over 3000 years. The city is known for its unrivalled culture and architecture and is home to no less than 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the world-famous Forbidden City complex and the Badaling Great Wall of China. Beijing is one of the ‘Four Great Ancient Capitals of China’ and has been the political centre of the country for 800 years.

Arrive in Beijing
Throughout the morning and afternoon, you will pass through rural China as well as mountainous river valleys, before continuing on past the amazing Great Wall of China, finally arriving in the Chinese capital, Beijing, where your transfer will take you to your hotel.
