Itinerary

Beijing

The capital of China, Beijing, has a long history stretching back over 3000 years. The city is known for its unrivalled culture and architecture and is home to no less than 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the world-famous Forbidden City complex and the Badaling Great Wall of China. Beijing is one of the ‘Four Great Ancient Capitals of China’ and has been the political centre of the country for 800 years.

Day 1

Arrival in Beijing

Your tour starts in Beijing, where your transfer will be waiting for you at the airport, or train station, to take you to the 3* Traveller Inn Huaqiao Hotel.

You have the freedom to explore, and experience, the majesty of the Chinese capital at your leisure.

Depart Beijing

Pack, and prepare to check-out, then meet your driver for an early morning transfer to the railway station, where our guide will advise, and assist, in purchasing provisions for the train if desired, accompany you to the platform, ensure that everyone is settled into their cabins and answer any last minute questions.

Travel to

Ulaanbaatar

The capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, was founded in the 17th century as a Buddhist monastic centre and is the country’s largest city. It is situated in the Tuul River valley, bordering the Bogd Khan Uul National Park and close to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. The city has a rich heritage and is home to many famous tourist attractions including the Gandantegchinlen Monastery, Zaisan Memorial, Choijin Lama Temple, and the Winter Palace of Bogd Khaan.

Arrive Ulaanbaatar

After your afternoon arrival you will be taken to the 3* Great Empire Hotel to freshen up, before being set free to explore, and experience, Ulaanbaatar as you wish.

Free Day in Ulaanbaatar

Breakfast is followed by free time to investigate the distinctive charm of Ulaanbaatar and the surrounding region or relax. Why not take a look at a few of the excursions you could arrange while there?

Day 8

Free Day and Departing Ulaanbaatar

After spending most of the day free to explore Ulaanbaatar, your driver will take you to thd railway station to catch the train and continue your journey along the Trans-Mongolian railway. You will head onwards to Irkutsk, passing by the amazing Lake Baikal.

Travel to

Irkutsk

Irkutsk is one of the largest cities in Siberia and the most important hub for tourism in the Lake Baikal region. As opposed to many of the more industrially shaped cities in Siberia, Irkutsk has a long history as a cultural centre and has been home to scientists, writers, artists, and political activists such as the Decembrists. It is also a key destination on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Day 9

Arrival in Irkutsk

Following your afternoon arrival in Irkutsk, you will be taken to the centrally located 3* Angara hotel . You will then have half a day to explore and experience the city.

Today, you have the morning to yourself and are free to explore more of this beautiful city, however, you will need to make sure that you are packed up and ready to check out at 12 noon.

Travel to

Trans-Mongolian

A variant of the traditional Trans-Siberian Railway, the Trans-Mongolian is one of the best ways to reach and explore Mongolia and passes between Moscow and Beijing visiting the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar on the way. The train journey itself offers diverse, spectacular views from the alpine forest regions of Siberia to the vast, arid Gobi Desert before skipping through the lush landscapes of China.

Day 14

Heading into Eurasia

After passing through Novosibirsk, the largest city in Siberia, the train will head for the historic Yekaterinburg and the Ural Mountains, crossing the border between Asia and Europe, around 1,000 miles east of Moscow.

Yekaterinburg stands close to the divide between Russia and Kazakhstan and is known as the ‘window on Asia’ due to its close proximity to the border. The city is commonly referred to as Russia’s ‘third capital’ as it is ranked third for tourism, transport, and economic size. It holds crucial significance in Russian History as the final resting place of the Romanov dynasty.

Arrival in Yekaterinburg

You will arrive in Yekaterinburg later in the evening and be provided with a transfer to take you to the 3* Ural Hotel.

You will have the opportunity to investigate, explore, and experience the historic city of Yekaterinburg in your own time.

Free Day and Departure from Yekaterinburg

You will have a free morning to enjoy breakfast and pack before meeting your driver for the early transfer to the railway station to depart for Moscow.

The city has the highest density of billionaires, is the world’s most populated inland city and boasts six out of Europe’s ten tallest buildings. It continues to be a major tourist destination in Europe growing year on year with famous attractions including Red Square, St Basil’s Cathedral, and the Kremlin.

Arrival in Moscow

In the morning you will reach your destination, the Russian Capital of Moscow, where your transfer will be waiting to pick you up.
